| Aims
Primary
To develop a Centre for Music where a fully qualified Music
Therapist will be employed both on site and in outreach work.
Although the main aim is to provide and practice Music Therapy
working with children up to and including the age of 18 years,
this does not preclude some work with adult clients.
Co-operation
To co-operate and work with other agencies or bodies having
similar aims and to encourage the provision and development
of appropriate support and networks for the advancement of participative
music making in the community.
To provide a centre for teaching, performance, practice, participation,
composition and study in classes, workshops, courses, master
classes, seminars, summer schools, conferences and residential
courses and provide opportunities to meet other people with
similar interest, whether at the centre or elsewhere. The main
objective is to advance the education of the public in music.
To co-operate with other proven established Therapies such
as Art, Drama and Dance, and at the same time further innovative
work in the field of music such as the Soundbeam Project and
the Voices Foundation.
Database
To provide a resource of database information of music making
and activity for the benefit of the local community.
Instrument Loan
To institute an Instrument Loan Scheme for those of any age
who might otherwise be precluded from pursuing an education
in music either for private enjoyment or serious study.
Bursary Scheme
The provision of a Bursary Scheme to assist those in need will
be one of the foremost priorities once the Centre is securely
funded. The encouragement of disadvantaged young persons is
part of this priority.
Fund Raising
To establish a fund raising organisation named ‘Friends
of Sound Waves’
