Qualifying from Roehampton in February 2002, he works for the NHS in a Creative Therapy Team, where the mental health needs of adults with or without learning disabilities are addressed through Music, Art, Drama, and Dance/Movement Therapies. He spent six years working in a school for children with visual impairments and learning disabilities, and now works for Sound Waves South West two days a week.
Recently, he has set up a special interest group for the Association for Professional Music Therapists, for those therapists that work with clients diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum Disorder. Last Summer he presented a paper at the European Congress of Music Therapy in Eindhoven entitled “Parallel Journeys: How a Music Therapist can travel with his client”. He also presented a paper at the Annual APMT/BSMT conference in London, 2003, entitled “Faith, Spirituality and Music Therapy: the appropriateness of addressing spiritual needs in Music Therapy” At the Sound Waves South West conference in 2006 he spoke about his work in two special needs schools in Barnstaple. He plays in a jazz quartet, and lives in Exeter with his wife and two daughters.
