WAVES SOUTH WEST INSTRUMENT LOAN SCHEME

Our Instrument Loan Scheme began in September 2002. We are currently
loaning 45 instruments including violins, cellos, flutes, clarinets
and a trombone – free to children
who then pay for their own tuition. At present the instruments
are loaned to children attending primary schools at Bude, Kilkhampton,
Morwenstow, Marhamchurch, Stratton and Whitstone as well as
Budehaven Community School and St. Petroc’s. We hope
to encourage as many children as possible to play a musical
instrument
and are always seeking further funding to expand the Scheme.
The only provisos are that each child should be receiving regular
tuition and the instrument insured under the parent/guardian’s
house insurance. The Charity will listen sympathetically to
any requests for instruments not currently held subject to
funds being available at the time.
SWSW
has to not only maintain the instruments but also provides
specialist instruments for
our Music Therapy team, so donations
are very much appreciated to allow us to continue the management
and running of this Scheme.

As mentioned above the loan is free. The only proviso is that
each child should be receiving regular tuition and that the
parent takes responsibility for the instrument - insuring it
against loss or damage. This term (Autumn 2007) there are 61
instruments out on free loan to families.
