Sound Waves South West 2024 Workshops

SWSW was delighted to welcome the baroque ensemble, Apollo’s Cabinet to Bude for one week in October. Around 1,400 students in the local schools were able to attend these performances and hear baroque instruments which have been around for hundreds of years, including harpsichord, violin, viola da gamba, recorder and the obo. They played music from various European countries with the enraptured audiences participating in clapping rhythms, conducting, dancing forwards, backwards and sideways in time to the music; they even learnt how to sing Happy Birthday in German having heard the history of King Frederick the Great. The nature of the Workshops evolved during the week as the players found more ways to engage the children.

Thank you to the Cornwall Council Community Chest for funding toward the Workshops in Stratton, Morwenstow and Kilkhampton Primary Schools.
